If you want a well crafted action film, Drug War is such a film, brilliantly acted, directed and with a good story, this is a memorable film to watch, and one not to be missed.įrom the very awesome director Johnnie To( Election, Triad Election, Mad Detective, etc) comes an awesome little movie with a big bang called "Drug War". The idea is simple, the filmmakers are able to get much more out of the concept because they keep you involved with enough thrills at every turn, and it makes for a truly tense, action packed roller coaster ride from start to finish. I expected a standard actioner with this film, but I got a film that really went beyond the action and went in depth with its storyline and that made this a memorable picture to watch. If you're tired of the same old action thriller, Drug War is a better outing, one that is refreshing and riveting from start to finish. The script is solid and the story is very good and it mixes thrills, action perfectly well into one picture that manages to stand out among the more mainstream Hollywood efforts. ![]() This is a very well crafted picture that is a must watch for any genre fan. The payoff will have most of you content enough to sit through it the entire way.įoreign films tend to be far better than mainstream Hollywood releases because they have a take no prisoners attitude, they're more confident in the way they're filmed, and they are much more exciting than many other films released by big studios. What I like best about these films is how little dialogue there is compared to American films. Overall, Drug War is a fine crime drama with some good acting from the leads. Now.since I don't know irritated me, but not to a point where I couldn't use common sense to figure out what those few words were or what was meant. You miss a few lines here and there because of it. ![]() They scrolled to fast or flat cut out when actors were speaking too quickly. I watched it on Netflix, and apparently, the subtitles were a problem for them. While not as intricate as The Departed with all the twists and turns and undercover cops, this had the feel of a Chinese version of that movie. While it's not necessarily an action movie, there are a few gun fights. ![]() At least, that's how I felt about the captain.įor one, the snitch turns so easily because he's looking out for numero uno, which is a key component throughout the film. A man is saved after his meth lab explodes by the cops and is then turned into a snitch by a greedy captain to get the bigger fish.
